FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Will I have to pay import duty or registration tax?
There is no customs duty within the EU. Dutch registration tax (BPM) is due when the car is registered in the Netherlands. The amount depends on CO2 emissions, fuel type and the age of the car: the older it is, the higher the depreciation and the lower the BPM.
There are three lawful ways to establish that depreciation — the fixed table, a valuation list, or an appraisal report — and on the same car the difference between them can run into thousands of euros. The fixed table is the simplest and usually the most expensive.
We work with accredited BPM appraisers who produce an appraisal report. In practice that often brings the BPM 30–40% below the standard table. Get in touch with the car you have in mind and we will ask our appraiser when they can assess it and what the report costs.
We always include the expected BPM in the total price up front, so you know the on-the-road cost before you commit.
How long does it take to get my car?
The search takes as long as it takes to find the right car — sometimes days, sometimes weeks, depending on how specific your requirements are. Once a car is bought, transport and registration follow.
If you are in a hurry it can be faster. How much faster depends on your specification and what is on the auctions at that moment — but speed has a price.
It works rather like buying shares. Normally we place what amounts to a limit order: we agree a maximum with you and wait for a car that falls within it. That gets the best price, but you cannot say exactly when. If you want the car quickly, we buy at the market price instead — typically a car with a 'Buy Now' option that is available immediately. That happens almost at once, but you pay a premium for not waiting for the right moment.
You choose which suits you. We tell you roughly what the difference costs before you decide.
What does it cost, and what is included?
Submitting a request costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We only charge once you agree to a specific car.
Our fee is €1,500. For that we find a car with the lowest possible mileage, a complete service history and no accident damage, negotiate on your behalf, and arrange transport to an address of your choosing.
In the Netherlands we deliver the car road-ready: registered, with the BPM settled within the agreed price, so you can drive it away.
In Bulgaria we deliver on transit plates, or to an address where you can store the car and collect the transit plates yourself — leaving you to arrange full registration whenever it suits you.
Delivery to other EU countries is arranged case by case; ask when you submit your request.
Which countries do you deliver to?
We deliver across the entire European Union. In the Netherlands, Germany and Bulgaria we run door-to-door with fully insured transport; to other EU countries we arrange transport through established partners.
At the moment only the Netherlands and Bulgaria are delivered registration-ready — see the previous question for how those two differ.
Is the car inspected before you buy it?
We check all available documentation, scrutinise the service history and mileage, and pull a vehicle history report through carVertical or a comparable service. Cars from dealer auctions also come with a report on damage and faults; we read that for you and translate it into what it means in practice.
What we cannot do is view the car in person beforehand. With auction cars that is not possible — for anyone, us included. We would rather say so plainly than have you discover it later.
That is why every car comes to the Netherlands first, where we inspect it ourselves before it goes to you. See the next question.
What if the car isn't as described?
Every car comes to the Netherlands first, where we are based. There we check it against the auction report and against what we showed you, before it is delivered to you.
If it differs, we file a claim with the selling party. They are obliged to refund the difference, and that money passes straight through to you. We agreed to deliver what we showed you, and that is what you can hold us to.
The whole process runs through a shared folder we give you access to. As soon as we find a car matching your requirements, we put it there with all photos, reports and documents. You decide whether we proceed. If you agree, we set a maximum bid together — if the auction goes above it, we stop and look for the next car. We never bid past your limit.
How does payment work?
Every car comes with a signed purchase contract, whatever the amount. It names the exact car and its specifications, where and when it will be delivered and by which carrier, and every cost itemised. Signed by you and by us, under Dutch law. Nothing is bought before that contract exists.
As standard you pay 30% on signing and the remaining 70% on delivery.
Cars that are available immediately ('Buy Now') work differently: the auction requires us to settle in full straight away, otherwise we cannot get the car delivered within a day. If you want that speed, we agree full advance payment — set out in that same contract, for that one car. It is your choice between waiting for the right car at the best price, or buying now at a premium.
You receive an invoice with a full breakdown: purchase price, transport, BPM where applicable, and our €1,500 fee, listed separately. No hidden margin on the purchase price — we earn on the fee, not on the car.
